Holy Week is the week between Palm/Passion Sunday and Easter. It is filled with worship opportunities and other programs that walk us through the final days of Jesus life and ministry, exploring what it all means for our faith and the world. We invite you to make time for worship or other events this week.
Below are the opportunities offered by Lutheran Campus Ministry and Grace Lutheran Church this year.
Sunday, March 24th – Palm Sunday Worship – 8 am, 9 am, and 10:30 am, and 6 pm. Palm branches distributed at all services. Children’s processional at 9 and 10:30.
Monday, March 25th – Lunchtime Bible Study – 12:15 – 1:15 pm – Come gather in Otto’s Eatery in Kern (near the Lion Shrine) and we’ll explore the lessons we’ll read on Sunday at dawn, in the mid-morning and in the evening. Bring your lunch or buy your lunch and join the group in the big room inside Otto’s. If you need help finding us, just call or text 814.360.0601.
Wednesday, March 27th – Supper in Harkins Hall – 6 pm at Grace Lutheran Church
Wednesday, March 27th – The Landowner’s Gift Musical – 7 pm at Grace Lutheran Church – This original script and musical by Laurel Saunders weaves together Noah’s planting of the first vineyard and Jesus’ parable of the workers in the vineyard. Presented by parishioners from Grace, an ecumenical chorus, piano, flutes and percussion,. A freewill offering will support future dramatic presentations. Click here to see the details.
Thursday, March 28th – Maundy Thursday Dinner and Worship – 6 pm at Pasquerilla Spiritual Center in the Garden Room. Jesus and his followers gathered for a meal on that last evening together. We’ll gather and blend our worship and our meal as we remember that last supper.
Thursday, March 28th – Maundy Thursday Worship – 7:30 p.m. Worship with Holy Communion and the traditional “stripping of the altar”.
Friday, March 29th – Good Friday Community Worship – 12-3 p.m. – Community Good Friday Service, University Baptist and Brethren Church. Pastor Lynn will preach from 2:35-3 p.m. “Into your hands I commend my spirit”.
Friday, March 29th – Good Friday Tenebrae Service – 7:30 pm at Grace Lutheran Church.
