I was struck by this image from last night’s vigil on the Old Main lawn.
Each candle is different, yet they all burn with the same flame. Each of us comes to this tragedy from a different place. We are each dealing with our own sorrow, shaped by way events have affected us and those we love. Yet, in our difference, the same light of hope burns within us. A light that is not overcome. Whether faintly or brightly, the same hope empowers us to go on, to make a better place, a better world.
May the light of hope burn today in State College, Beaver Stadium, and everywhere people think about Penn State.
A light shines in the darkness. And the darkness has not overcome it.
