Volunteers needed !!

You can help with community food distribution! Two Thursday afternoons each month the Central PA Food Bank and YMCA of Centre County’s Anti-Huger Programs provide food in the parking lot at Grace Lutheran Church. Volunteers help with setup, pre-packing food items, check-in, and putting food into cars between 1:30 pm and 6 pm. Come for just part or for the whole time – whatever works for your schedule. There are a wide variety of tasks to do and lots of great company!

Sample Volunteer Duties (come for any part of the time!)

1:30 pm – 3 pm  Unloading food delivered by the Central PA Food Bank, preparing bags of food for distribution, setup of distribution area (most tasks are inside)

3:30 pm – 6 pm  Helping place food into cars of those who come for distribution, refilling supplies (most tasks outside – dress for the weather!)

Upcoming dates: February 13 and 27, March 13 and 27

Distributions are held near the ramp entrance at Grace Lutheran Church, 205 South Garner Street in State College. This drive through distribution and accommodate walk-ups, too!

If you’d like to help, just show up! If you’d like, contact Kathy Kalbach at kathymkalbach@gmail.com or   campus minster Alicia Anderson if you have questions at ara2@psu.edu or 814.360.0601. You’ll get to work with friendly and welcoming volunteers of all ages!

If you or someone you know would like to receive food at any of the distribution dates, there is no need to sign up – just come to the parking lot at Grace Lutheran between 3:30 and 5:30 pm. Each household receives both non-perishable and perishable food items. You’ll find more info and more distribution sites and dates on the YMCA Anti-Hunger Page.
