O God,
The beauty of this week, this holy week, is so intricate.
You gathered your followers together to share a meal
and to teach one more time the value of humble service in your reign.
You sought guidance, comfort, and prayer in the garden,
and you were given into the hands of the authorities,
betrayed and abandoned by friends and disciples.
You were tortured, tried, and put to death.
Power tried to destroy love.
Our hearts ache.
We consider the fear and sorrow felt by those who loved and followed you.
Yet our hearts know hope is here, and new life is so very near.
This is just the beginning.
