Great fall weather has returned! These are the days it really is great to be a college student – watch for the admissions office photographers gathering images of happy students walking, talking, studying and enjoying life surround by fall colors!
Your days are picture perfect, right?
I just returned from my college class reunion, and it was great fun! In the midst of sharing stories with old friends and folks I hadn’t seen in years (and I mean YEARS), I also remembered some of the challenges and traumas that many of us faced in our college years. Life in college isn’t always a photo op, is it? Life is often filled with pain and struggle and uncertainty. We never face them alone. God has claimed us and is present with us and is with us in those challenges . . . somehow making bringing new life into the dark and difficult places.
That’s what God is about – bringing hope into our despair, direction when we are lost loss, making new life where the is death. Remember what you learned in elementary school about those beautiful leaves? The colors are really a sign of death . . . but also a promise that new life will come in the spring. Thanks be to God!
