Ongoing Events | Covid-19 Era Spring 2021
WEEKLY EVENTS
Night Prayer | Sundays 9 pm online
Spring 2021, we will continue to meet on Sunday evenings from 9 – 9:20 pm via Zoom for Night Prayer. Through music and simple songs, prayer and readings, and time for reflection, we’ll stop and center ourselves before the week begins. You'll find the link on the event calendar.
Online Evening Prayer | Thursdays 8 pm via Zoom through February 11
Until in-person gatherings resume, we will gather for Evening Prayer on Thursdays at 8 pm using Zoom. You'll find all the elements of our usual worship; music and song, prayer and reflection, community and candles. Come and find connection with other students and with God.
Evening Prayer | Thursdays 6 pm at Pasquerilla Spiritual Center
Once classes resume in-person, we will gather for Evening Prayer on Thursdays at 6 pm in Pasquerilla Spiritual Center. We will be following all the university’s Covid-19 guidelines and procedures, expect to be masks and social distancing, and a warm and welcoming community, nevertheless. We’ll have a bag meal for you to take along afterward since no group meals are currently allowed.
Thursday Grab 'n Go Dinner | Thursdays 6:45 pm at Pasquerilla Spiritual Center
After in-person worship on Thursdays, sack meals will be provided. You are welcome to take this meal along or to join the socially distanced group eating together after Worship.
Pop Up Office Hours | Tuesdays 3 - 4 pm on campus or online
When the weather allows, you will find Campus Minister Alicia Anderson at a spot outside on campus where you can come and talk for a while. Check in about your day, ask questions, share concerns or fears, get some advice, or ask for prayers. Check our event calendar and socials for the location each week. You will also find the link there when online.
Other Opportunities
Antiracism Discussion | Monthly Online - Dates TBD
Learn and talk together with as we grow in our understanding of racism and how we can be antiracist day today. We will be exploring antiracism using a variety of online resources. At this initial meeting, we’ll start the conversation and make plans for monthly gatherings throughout the year. We are offering this discussion together with Lutheran Student Community, Presbyterian Student Fellowship and Wesley at PSU. Everyone is welcome! You can find the Zoom link event calendar.
Volunteering at the Arboretum | Spring Dates TBD
Join other volunteers at the Penn State Arboretum and help plant a Pollinator and Bird Garden, using COVID-19 safety plan and working outdoors! Watch for sign up invitations! You’ll get more details once you sign up, but the Arboretum is off Park Avenue, near Shortlidge. Supplies and equipment will be provided, and you will need to dress for the weather, bring a water bottle, and wear a mask. If the weather cooperates, we can eat a picnic lunch together afterward!
Volunteering with the Clothing Transit | Tuesdays
In partnership with the Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity volunteers help with clothing items that are available to the trans and non-binary community. Volunteers are needed on Tuesdays to help sort and catalog items. Sign up here.
Spanish language faith community / Outreach to Spanish speaking community
Volunteers are needed to help establish Gloria de Dios Comunidad, a new Spanish language community of faith here in Centre County. A diverse group of volunteers are at the beginning stages of this multi-cultural outreach project, sponsored by the ELCA. Contact Eliza Mull for more information at eam376@psu.edu.
Service Events / Projects
We have worked together on group projects like the Volunteering at the Arboretum, Virtual CROP Walk in October, Clothing Transit through the fall, online service projects, and others.
